  • the fruit is a spherical berry-like cone, which was formed by the fusion of several fleshy seed (fruit) scales
  • about 60 species of the Northern Hemisphere belong to the genus
  • There are three original species in Slovakia:

1. Common juniper (Juniperus communis L.)

2. Juniper (Juniperus sabina L.)

3. Alpine juniper (Juniperus sibirica Lodd.)
