Habitus

  • it is a low, creeping, alpine shrub of the alpine zone with underground trunks from which above-ground shoots grow
  • it grows to a height of approx. 6 - 8 cm
  • it is our smallest willow !

  • they are simple, ellipsive, round to inverted ovate, 0.8 - 2.0 x 0.7 - 2.0 cm large
  • they are serrated along the edge
  • reticulate venation
  • they are dark green on the top, glossy, on the bottom they are lighter

Flowers

  • dioecious tree species
  • it flowers in VI – VIII

Fruits – seeds

  • the fruit is a capsule
  • seed is a fluffy achene
