Habitus

crown broadly conical, densely branched
bark smooth, light brown with prominent resin vesicles

assimilation organs needle-shaped, 10 - 20 x 2 - 2.5 mm large, widening towards the top, at the end they are mostly cut out
on top they are dark green, shiny in the middle with a distinct groove
on the underside with two prominent chalk-white bands of vents, which often merge into one integral white area
Flowers
wood monoecious, flowers of different sexes
♂ - cones are cylindrical, yellowish, grow at the base needles on the underside of last year's branches
♀ - cones are cylindrical, upright, ¨grow on the upper side of last year's branches
Fruits – seeds
the fruit is a cone, cylindrical, 4 - 7 x 2.5 - 3 cm in size with protruding supporting scales
after ripening the cones on the trees gradually disintegrate and only the central spindle remains
Extension
mountainous areas of the southern part of the Korean peninsula at an altitude of 1,000 - 1,800 m above sea level
Significance
a valuable decorative tree with a habit, needles (distinct chalky white drawing on the underside) and cones
in the territory of Slovakia it is only found as a cultivated species
